Cobham Manor Affiliated Dressage 15 April, ’07

  • Sunday’s show was a last minute addition to the calendar, by kind permission of British Dressage (BD) and Michelle Jarvis and Peter Sands, owners of Cobham Manor Equestrian Centre. A handful of regular competitors were sent details, resulting in a very friendly and informal day.

    Prelim 7 qualifier

    1. Cash’s Gamble (T Ferrance-Reed) 72.0%
    2. Oldhouse Ve-Day Moon (F Bithell) 66.0%
    3. Erimus Conversation (L Peto) 65.0%

    Prelim 17 qualifier

    1. Cash’s Gamble (T Ferrance-Reed) 70.83%
    2. Erimus Conversation (L Peto) 66.25%
    3. Lady Saskara (A Shephard) 64.58%

Tracy Farrance-Reed, riding her big chestnut Cash’s Gamble scored a double win in both Prelim qualifiers, with over 70% being achieved in each test. They are a truly pleasurable combination to watch. Lisa Peto and Erimus Conversation enjoyed their first taste of affiliated competition by entering both prelim as an open partnership (for unregistered horses and riders) and certainly proved that they’re a combination to keep an eye on in the future.

    Novice 21

    1. Ariano (N Shuttlewood) 67.0%
    2. C Carr (Bazaar Decision) 67.0%
    3. F Bithell (Oldhouse Ve-Day Moon) 64.5%

The 11-year-old Connemara x Welsh gelding, Ariano, walked away with first place in novice 21 for Nina Shuttlewood. The little grey performed a neat and tidy test showing that our native breeds are quite capable of scooping prizes in the dressage field.

    Novice 22 qualifier

    1. Bazaar Decision (C Carr) 73.1%
    2. Ariano (N Shuttlewood) 69.31%

Top scorer of the day was the huge bay Bazaar Decision, owned and ridden by BD’s own Regional Development Officer Claire Carr. Claire was over the moon with his performance, which was his best score to date.

I would like to thank Michelle and Sian at Cobham Manor. I attended this show and I had a great day. My horse finished second and third in the restricted section of the prelims. Everyone was so friendly and all the classes ran to time; it was very well organised. I think this venue would be an excellent place to hold the Area Festivals, as the atmostphere is relaxed and the organisation is spot on! Sarah Jacklin
