McQuiston impresses at Manor Farm

  • Manor Farm

Lisa McQuiston completed a hat-trick of wins at Manor Farm in Cambridgeshire, taking the prix st georges and intermediaire I on her Shire/Warmblood Born To Be, as well as gaining success at advanced medium on Meant To Be, reports Ruth Pearce.

Jane Randall made her 6hr round trip from Hampshire worthwhile to lead the grand prix on Kick On Felix. List One judge Jenny Ward finished in the ribbons on Coubertin in the intermediaire II, while Jenny Coleman and Lyndon Hall led the advanced 100 and finished second in the prix st georges.

    Rodbaston College

Rodbaston College hosted three music freestyles at its November fixture, attracting some last-minute entries in search of qualification, reports Jo Prestwich. Suzanne Galliers was top of these, scoring the highest percentage of the day — 74% — with Arlande to finish 10% ahead of the chasing pack at elementary level.

The novice freestyle was a much closer run thing, with just 0.5% separating the top three. Sara Harrison headed these with her all-rounder Jelly Jangles. Wendy Evans’s British Warmblood Night Fever won the accompanying novice qualifier with 69%.

List One judge Sue Jelks continued her fantastic run of form with Cadbury II in the medium freestyle. The pair have now qualified for four classes at the winter championships — matching last year’s count.

    Frensham Manor

Markus Bauer and Global Ludewig made a winning first appearance at Frensham Manor, Surrey, in the advanced medium, reports Celia Cadwallader. Although Mark Ruddock and Wish Upon A Star were relegated to second place judge Mary Robley described their 71% win in the medium as “supple, fluent and nicely balanced throughout”. Tony Dunn was the highest placed restricted rider in the medium qualifier on Donnovan’s Song.
