Horse dies in WEG endurance competition


  • A Costa Rican horse has died in the early stages of the endurance competition at the FEI Alltech World Equestrian Games in Sartilly, Normandy.

    Dorado, ridden by Claudia Romero Chacon slipped and fell 400m before the first check point, reportedly after colliding with a tree. The rider has been taken to hospital by ambulance. The accident happened around 8.30am today (Thursday 28 August).

    Eight other horses were out of the competition by the end of the first phase, including former world number one, Germany’s Sabrina Arnold on Saltan 2, who retired, and Ireland’s Tom MacGuinness with Horseware LR Artista.
