Oisin Murphy
Oisin Murphy is an Irish jockey based in Britain who has been British champion jockey on five occasions (2019, 2020, 2021, 2024 and 2025).
Born on 6 September 1995, Oisin is the nephew of Jim Culloty, a three-time Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and Grand National winner.
Oisin has won two British Classics – the 2,000 Guineas on Kameko in 2020 and the 1,000 Guineas in 2023 – as well as numerous Group Ones.
In addition to being a top-class jockey, Oisin is a very articulate speaker, particularly when analysing his racing performances and equine partners.
His riding career has not been without controversy and he has been banned from the sport more than once. In November 2020 he was suspended for three months, in February 2020 he banned from race riding until 2023, and on 3 July 2025, he was fined £70,000 and banned from driving for 20 months, at Reading Magistrates’ Court after pleaded guilty to drink-driving.
