Beatriz Ferrer-Salat withdraws from Olympic dressage contest

  • Beatriz Ferrer-Salat has withdrawn her horse Faberge from the Olympic dressage competition. The black Hanoverian has suffered a leg injury.

The news is devastating for the Spain team as they have no travelling reserve in Hong Kong, which just leaves riders Jordi Domingo and Juan Manuel Munoz Diaz to ride as individuals.

This is the second time that Beatriz Ferrer-Salat has missed out on a major championship due to an injury to her horse. She also missed the 2006 World Equestrian Games because of an injured Beauvalais.

The Spanish rider won team silver and individual bronze in Athens four years ago.
